This friendly central eatery offers a two-in-one treat to hungry customers in Holbox. Two kitchens, two extensive menus with different specialities - a wonderful spot to enjoy an evening meal with something for everyone.

La Miranda de Rulo and joining pizza kitchen Babalú Yei Yei have the perfect laid-back Caribbean atmosphere. The restaurant has a pirate-themed concept to take us back to Holbox of the past – a palapa roof covering the open-air space over two levels and relaxed lounge music. There is also the possibility to dine outside if you want to soak up the town’s ambience while you eat, and if it rains, the restaurant can be fully closed to protect you from the elements.

The two kitchens have very different cuisines, both equally as good quality with tempting dishes cooked by well-known, Mexican chefs. Babalú Yei Yei primarily serves clay-oven pizzas, cooked by chef Anwar ‘El Bambino’ Zepeda. If you enjoy a good pizza, this is definitely a place to visit while on the island having been voted one of the top 5 best pizzas in Mexico.

La Miranda de Rulo specializes in tasty Mexican and fusion cuisine and serves such tempting dishes as coconut shrimps with a mango mousse and fresh garlic fillet of fish. And don’t forget the range of homemade salsas to accompany your meal - mango with habanero chili, pineapple with chipotle, or extra virgin olive oil with baked onion, garlic and habanero. Chef Doña Maru is sure to please, having represented Mexico in cooking expos Portugal and Germany, and worked for years in popular restaurant La Valentina in Polanco, Mexico City.
