La Sirenita

Hidden behind the main square, La Sirenita – The Little Mermaid – is extremely popular amongst locals and those lucky tourists who manage to come across it. This family-run, humble restaurant serves tasty Mexican antojitos (little cravings) with a choice of sopes, tacos, panuchos, and more. The difference between these scrumptious snacks all comes down to how the fresh corn tortilla is prepared, and you can decide what kind of toppings you’d prefer – chicken, pork, or a vegetarian option.

This friendly local, named after their youngest daughter, also serves tortas – sandwiches – and a special, flavoursome caldo de pollo – chicken soup. The soup comes in two versions, normal and especial, the latter without the chicken bones if you just want the broth with meat. But get there fast because this popular dish soon runs out!

To accompany your cheap yet delicious food, La Sirenita also has fresh fruit ‘aguas’ (natural waters).
