Sandbank walk

Sandbank Walk

When the tide is low, a big beautiful sand bank appears in the sea on the main beach creating a perfect path all the way up to the far point of the island passing Hotel Las Nubes.

Depending how fast you walk and how many times you stop to take in the view, it can take up to an hour and a half. Once there, take advantage of this uninhabited side of the island and the array of birds, including flamingos, which you can often see there. Make sure you carry lots of water and sun cream with you, and check the tides – at high tide you might find your wonderful sandy path disappears. Note: you can also walk along the beach towards Punta Mosquito, but don't cross the river - crocodiles have been seen in the area.

On your way back, stop off at one of the many hotel bars or restaurants for a cocktail or lemonade and a snack. Have a look at our restaurant pages for inspiration and our events page for 2 for 1 offers on drinks.
